Project Intent
The project addresses increasing social fragmentation, particularly among adolescents aged 12–18, where weakened community ties, digital isolation, and post-pandemic effects have contributed to rising anxiety and disconnection. In Qatar, these shifts are intensified by fast-paced development and reduced communal interaction. Historically, community structures encouraged dialogue, support, and collective responsibility, fostering a strong sense of belonging. Today, these systems have diminished, leaving gaps in social connection.
Bayt Al-Wisal responds by creating a multi-sensory environment that encourages interaction, discovery, and engagement. Through spatial sequencing and activity-based zones, the design gently pushes users out of isolation, promoting social exchange and shared experience. Located within an active cultural and educational context, the project reinterprets traditional ideas of gathering into a contemporary setting.
